Holston Hills is a neighborhood in East Knoxville that blends historical charm with golf course living. Located along the northwest side of the Holston River, this area offers wide lots, mature trees, and a peaceful layout designed nearly a century ago.

Designed Around a Top-Ranked Golf Course

Established in the mid-1920s, Holston Hills was developed by a group of businessmen who purchased a 180-acre farm with the vision of creating a golf-centered residential area. That vision became a reality with the creation of Holston Hills Country Club, now recognized by Golf Magazine as one of the Top 100 Courses in the country and one of the Top 50 Classic Courses in the U.S.

Timeless Homes and Architectural Variety

The neighborhood offers a wide range of home styles. Early builds included:

• Colonial Revival

• Tudor

• Italianate Revival

• Large stone and brick two-story homes

After the Great Depression, smaller ranch-style homes began to appear throughout the neighborhood. Today, this variety of architecture helps define the neighborhood’s unique look and long-term appeal.

A Dogwood Arts Trail Neighborhood

In spring, Holston Hills comes to life with blooming dogwood trees. As one of the original neighborhoods included in the Dogwood Arts Trail, it remains a popular destination for walking, biking, and scenic drives. The trail now includes 13 neighborhoods, but Holston Hills and Sequoyah Hills were the first two recognized.
