Sequoyah Hills Neighborhood

Dating back to the early 1900s, Sequoyah Hills holds a special place in Knoxville’s history as its oldest and most sought-after community. Its appeal is further enhanced by its close proximity to the University of Tennessee, UT Medical Center, and the serene Fort Loudoun Lake.

Sequoyah Hills is home to an 87 acre waterfront park called Sequoyah Park. This park is a local favorite for residents who enjoy walking, running, and leisurely biking. West of Sequoyah Park is a smaller historic stone park. Talahi park was developed when the neighborhood was first established in the 1920s. With its walking path, stone shelter, and benches, it’s a great spot to relax. Plus, being gated makes it perfect for kids and pets to play freely.

Sequoyah Hills, as we know it today, has undergone several expansions from its original tract. These include Montview, Elmwood Place, Ardilla Point Addition, Scenic Drive, Alta Vista, Wood Hill, Hillvale, Spreading Oaks, Evergreen, Anteelah, Kingston Park, Lakeview, Talahi, Cherokee Gardens, Cherokee Hills, Shawnee Wood, Havenwoods, Lake View Point, and Terry Arnold Addition. Additionally, Sequoyah Hills encompasses various multi-family properties such as Sequoyah Square Condos and Sequoyah Terrace Condos.

The beauty of Sequoyah Hills really shines in the spring when the dogwood trees are in full bloom. This neighborhood was the first to be apart of the Dogwood Arts Trail back in 1955. The Dogwood Arts Trail covers 13 neighborhoods, including Sequoyah Hills, and is a scenic route that showcases the blooming dogwood trees. Residents and locals enjoy walking, biking, or driving along the trail.

The Sequoyah Hills neighborhood is currently zoned for Sequoyah Elementary, Bearden Middle and West High School.
