West Knoxville is the proud home of the Concord Yacht Club. The facility is located on Ft Loudoun Lake at mile marker 616.1 on the Tennessee River.
Sailing has been an organized activity at this location since the late 1940’s. The Concord Yacht Club, incorporated in 1951, has continually enhanced the property and facilities each year since. Today, there are three floating dock systems, numerous moorings, on the water racks, winter storage, parking for trailered boats, launching equipment, marine railway for larger fixed keel boats, kitchen and banquet facilities, and shower rooms.
The club hosts a variety of social, educational, recreational, and competitive events each year. Outreach programs include family sailing, day-camp, adult learning, and support for the University of Tennessee sailing team, Sea Scouts, and high school sailing clubs. The club maintains a fleet of sail boats of various sizes, classes, as well as racing official and safety boats.
The Concord Yacht Club is a member-driven organization. Ground trailer spaces, racks, moorings, summer slips and docks are assigned to members according to current policies. The picnic pavilions, playground, and beach are for members use.
The club offers several Community Sailing programs for the members and general public. Non-members can learn and train through several programs designed for area youth, adults, high school students and the sailing club at UT. There is a wide variety of boats available for these programs.
Each summer, there are numerous activities and on-the-water events, including the Memorial Day Regatta.
The general area on Northshore Drive is a family favorite.
The Cove at Concord Park is immediately to the west of the sailboat harbor. The Cove offers paddle boarding and kayak rentals, a large pavilion, play area for the kids, a beach and walking trails.
Immediately across Northshore Drive is more family favorites. There is a boat launch, parking lots, and nearly a dozen baseball fields.
