2000 will proudly mark the 40th Anniversary of the Dogwoods Arts Festival. A celebration built on forty years of tradition, the festival commemorates Knoxville’s beautiful blooming dogwood trees and springtime gardens. The Knoxville Zoological Park is nestled in the hills of East Tennessee, the Knoxville Zoo has over 1,000 animals from around the world. You will embark upon a journey across a vast animal kingdom. Parks and Recreation

It’s no wonder …that East Tennessee is called the Great Lakes of the South. With seven lakes, many rivers, embracing the valley of East Tennessee including Fort Loudon Lake, Tellico Lake, Watts Bar Lake, Melton Hill, Norris Lake, Cherokee Lake and Douglas Lake. East Tennessee is a playground for water sports of all types. With many area lakeside parks and marinas give visitors the opportunity to fully enjoy the many waterfronts.

Tennessee Valley has more than 1,000 square miles of water surface and 11,000 miles of shoreline. A wide range of recreation opportunities is available. Recreation activities include picnicking, boating, fishing, hiking, photograph and much more.

Volunteer Landing features Volunteer Landing Marina and enjoy water recreation or take a ride on the Star of Knoxville Riverboat. It’s an authentic 325 passenger sternwheel riverboat which offers sightseeing, entertainment and much more.

Obed Wild and Scenic River lies forty-three miles west of Knoxville. The park consists of approximately 8,500 acres of Federal and state lands stretched along 45 miles of river and streams. Visitors will enjoy some of the most challenging whitewater boating experiences in Eastern North American at the Obed.
